Ships are dismantled at the point when a ship age is no longer economically viable to operate. Anywhere from 200 to 600 large ships are broken down each year around the world. There is a lot of labour involved in the process to dismantle a ship as everything must be off it and its infrastructure has to be dealt with as well.
